Initiations, products, as well as projects on climate change adaptation of Vietnam under the support of the European Union (EU) were introduced at the EU climate diplomacy exhibition 2017, opened in the afternoon of October 14, at Ly Thai To Flower Garden, Hanoi.

The Mekong Delta is currently facing the challenge of climate change, the most worrying and urgent solution now is the subsidence of the land, the plain “is quickly sinking". Around this issue, we have an exchange with MA. Nguyen Huu Thien - Mekong Delta ecological expert.

Speaking at the opening session of the Conference on sustainable development of Mekong Delta adaptation to climate change, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc stated "We are not panic, but we find the best, scientific, the most suitable way, in that innovation of thinking and action of the political system to bring better things to the lives of nearly 20 million people and at the same time overcome the challenge to have a bright future. The Mekong Delta will be a rich region of Vietnam with nearly 100 million people."

The integrated development planning for the Mekong Delta region is the basis for coordinating and allocating resources for development.

On September 27, in Can Tho, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc presided the plenary session of the conference on sustainable development of the Mekong Delta (MD) in response to climate change. This event attracted more than 1,000 domestic and international delegates.

After 2 years of study, Institute of Hydrometeorology and Climate Change proposed to integrate climate change response into Socio-economic development planning of some key sectors (agriculture, fisheries and infrastructure) of Thua Thien Hue province. Build flood map with corresponding climate change scenarios. 1: 25,000. At the same time, come up with the vulnerability index map when the impact of climate change is 1: 25.000 for Thua Thien Hue province.

Phu Yen Provincial People's Committee has just deployed the green growth action plan for the period 2016-2020 aiming at low carbon economy, reducing emissions and increasing greenhouse gas absorption capacity, enriching natural capital, using energy conservation and efficiency, natural resources.

Vietnam is one of the most affected countries by climate change. It is therefore important to turn climate change challenges into opportunities for sustainable development and green growth.

In the afternoon of September 5, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc had a meeting with several ministries and sectors to organize a conference on changing the sustainable development model of Mekong Delta to adapt to climate change.
