Using waste sludge from water treatment plants and fly ash from thermal power plants, the group of scientists at Ho Chi Minh City Polytechnic University has researched and applied geopolymer technology to produce backfilling materials.

The research team of Institute for Science and Environment Technology – Polytechnic University (Hanoi) studied the impact levels of sludge on performance of household wastewater treatment by Sequencing bioreactor technology (SBR) and found the optimal concentration of sludge to treat wastewater effectively.
Previously, with the support of Hai Phong city’s science and technology budget, Thuy Nguyen district has successfully implemented two application models of biological products to treat straws into organic humus in commune of Thuy Trieu and Trung Ha.

Institute for Water, Irrigation and Environment under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has successfully created a device, using nano materials to treat Arsenic water and water (in flooded regions)and supply domestic water for rural areas.
By the end of December 2013, Dong Nai has 7/9 waste disposal sites that came into operation with total capacity of solid waste is 786 tons/day, treatment of hazardous wastes about 113 tons/day.
The scientists from Institute of Water, Irrigation and Environment (Vietnam Irrigation Science Institute) successfully researched and produced arsenic water treatment equipment by nano technology in order to serve water supply for rural areas.
