According to National University of Ho Chi Minh city, the construction of geographic information systems in Mekong Delta is a solution to help Southwest West Steering Committee; People's Committee of provinces, cities in Mekong Delta; managers, scientists and manufacturers have enough updated synthetic information on the status and evolution of natural conditions, natural resources, natural disasters and socio-economic situation.
Geographic information systems in Mekong Delta include information technology infrastructure (both hardware and software), staffs of multidisciplinary science and technology, information processing (especially, information gained through satellite images with remote sensing techniques) and the database is symbolized in the form of a set of intelligent maps.
Research orientation and development of geographic information systems in Mekong Delta include the construction of especially geographic information systems and general geographic systems.
According to the plans of National University of Ho Chi Minh city, the project implementation time on construction of geographical information systems in Mekong Delta region is 5 years.
In the coming 2014, will begin to assess the status and monitor changes in the form of natural resources, the environment and natural disasters in the whole region.
The research results will be expressed in the form of digitized atlas for each region as well as in the whole region and provide immediately via a computer network for leaders of provinces and cities in the region and Southwest West Steering Committee to use in leadership, management and operation and etc. |
