Join hands to deal with climate change
Promoting cooperation with development partners, international financial institutions, especially cooperation in sustainable green financial development is one of the priorities of the Government to implement Vietnam's commitments at the 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26).


Standard Chartered Vietnam and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment signed a Memorandum of Understanding on climate change response.

Standard Chartered Bank is one of the financial institutions that has committed to accompany Vietnam to address climate challenges, support activities to respond to climate change and energy transition for implementation commitment goals.

With the witness of Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha, Global General Director of Standard Chartered Bank Bill Winters, leaders of member units of Standard Chartered Vietnam and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment have just signed the MoU. memorandum of understanding on climate change response.

Accordingly, the content will focus on implementing capacity building activities and supporting the implementation of projects to respond to climate change; attracting the private sector to implement climate change adaptation solutions; develop programs on transformative finance, green and sustainable finance and promote the development of the carbon market in Vietnam to implement the commitments at COP26 conference.

The cooperation between Standard Chartered Vietnam and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment aims to contribute to the effective implementation of tasks and solutions to implement Vietnam's commitments at COP26.

In which, there are 8 focus groups of tasks: Completing synchronously mechanisms, policies and laws, promoting reform of administrative procedures, improving the business environment; Focus on developing new renewable, zero-emission energy sources; energy storage technology and carbon capture, storage and utilization technologies; Promote emission reduction in transportation and mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions in the field of building materials production; urban development and green construction; Developing ecological, circular, low-carbon agriculture; forest protection, conservation, use and sustainable development; Protect and restore natural resources, develop natural ecosystems; Actively adapt to climate change; Scientific research, innovation, capacity building, communication; Promote climate diplomacy.
