Vietnamese and American scientists have published in the American Journal of entomology about the discovery of two new species for insect science. The two new species are Vietnamese named scorpion flies, in which the first new species Neopanorpa cucullata and the second new species Neopanorpa ellengreeni are discovered in Nha Trang, Lam Dong, Cao Bang and Ninh Binh.
In the first new scorpion fly, males have wide, overlapping triangular wings and body, almost immaculate in appearance to the faint pattern, while all of the other Long-winged species of Vietnam have long, relatively narrow males; on the rear wing have brown to black bands.
The second new species has a dark yellow wing while all other species of this species in the past of Vietnam have pale yellow wing.
So far, there are 16 species of scorpion flies recorded in Vietnam, including 13 species of Neopanorpa and 3 species of Bittacus. |
