Three sets of coordination support for trademark and geographical indication protection for products with export potential
In the morning of December 31, the Ministers of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development signed a coordinated plan to support the protection of trademarks and geographical indications for potential export products of Vietnam in foreign countries, for the period of 2022 -2025.


The signing ceremony took place on the sidelines of the Summary Conference in 2021 and deploy the tasks in 2022 of the Ministry of Science and Technology, under the witness of Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam

According to the plan, three products: lychee of Bac Giang province, mango fruit of Dong Thap province, longan of Son La province will be piloted to evaluate and identify potential products and important markets to propose directions to support trademark registration or geographical indications in appropriate markets.

The plan sets out 6 groups of specific tasks: Studying the current status of support activities and surveying the needs of relevant groups of subjects; Organizing conferences, workshops and training courses on supporting the protection of trademarks and geographical indications in foreign countries; Strengthen the propaganda, promotion and support for the protection of trademarks and geographical indications in the foreign countries; Construction, release and publication of guidance documents and publications for exporters, potential exporters and owners, management of collective trademarks, certification trademarks and geographical indications; Promote domestic and foreign consultancy on issues related to the protection of trademarks and foreignly geographical indications associated with exported products; Pilot support for registration of trademarks or geographical indications for a number of agricultural products with potential for export to key foreign markets.

The content to support enterprises to register trademarks and geographical indications in the foreign countries has been outlined in the Resolution of the April 2021 regular Government meeting, No. 48/NQ-CP dated May 6, 2021.
