However, wind and solar energy, also bring certain challenges, such as pushing harmonics (unwanted currents overloading lines and transformers) on the grid or unstable power generation, causing affect the stability of the power system.
At the workshop "Application of artificial intelligence (AI) to monitor and detect abnormal incidents of wind generators and transformers" organized by Ho Chi Minh City Science and Technology Information and Statistics Center on August 10, Mr. Dang Luu, Director of Anh Minh Global Solar Energy Limited Company, said that the company's engineering team has researched and developed a fault prediction model (damage to shafts, bearings, gearboxes, power generation; harmonics, and etc.), for wind generators, transformers using AI.
According to Mr. Luu, algorithms such as supervised machine learning, unsupervised machine learning, and deep learning can be applied to build predictive models, based on data from sensors, operational parameters, and environmental changes. These models can help predict failures in wind generators and transformers, thereby providing timely preventive measures and interventions to prevent failures before they occur. |
