Ho Chi Minh City National University established the Circuit Design and Training Center (ICDREC) in 2005 and the Nanotechnology Laboratory (LNT), now the Institute of Nanotechnology (INT). In 2010, semiconductor microchips were added to the list of high technology and high technology products prioritized for investment and development according to Decision No. 49/2010/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister. In 2012, microchips were identified as a national product according to Decision No. 439/QD-TTg dated April 16, 2012 of the Prime Minister. In 2012, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City also issued the Microchip Industry Development Program for the period of 2013-2020, with a vision to 2030. The above moves affirm the determination to develop the IC industry in Vietnam in general and of Ho Chi Minh City in particular.
