The first meeting of Project Steering Committee on 'Enhancing production and use of adobe bricks in Vietnam."
The goal of the project for "Reducing the annual growth rate of greenhouse emissions by decreasing the use of fossil fuels and fertile land to make bricks through increasing production, sale and use of adobe bricks in Vietnam; reduction in greenhouse gas emissions directly estimated at 383 ktonnes of CO2; reduction in greenhouse gas emissions indirectly estimated at 13 409 ktonnes of CO2 accumulated in the 10 years after the project ends; and etc.
The project will be implemented with 4 components, including policy support for the development of production technologies of adobe bricks; building technical capacity for the application and operation, production and use of adobe bricks; sustainable financial support for technological applications in adobe brick production; demonstration of adobe brick production technologies, expanded investment.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hau - Deputy Director of Science and Technology Economic - Engineering Sector, project director said that project's main results will issue policies to encourage production and use of adobe bricks; strengthen capacity and knowledge to government agencies in regulating development of production and use of adobe bricks.
When participating in the project, businesses will be also supported investment policy advice, production and use of adobe bricks; supported technical training on investment project planning, design, construction, operation, maintenance of adobe brick factory; supported technology transfer; advised preferential loan in Vietnam Environmental Protection Fund or loaned at Vietnam Industry and Trade Commercial bank (VietinBank); and etc.
The project will be implemented from November, 2014 to November, 2019 with total capital nearly 39 million dollars from Global Environment Fund, US Development Program (UNDP), Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Construction, National Science and Technology Development Fund, Vietinbank, Hai Duong Construction Department, Viglacera, private enterprises, industrial Associations. |
