Statistics from the system of the National Cybersecurity Monitoring Center - NCSC under the Department of Information Security, Ministry of Information and Communications show that, in May 2023, the Center recorded, warned and directed led to handle 695 cyber attacks causing problems on information systems in Vietnam, an increase of 39.6% compared to April this year, a decrease of 17.9% compared to the same period of May last year.
Accumulated in the first 5 months of this year, the total number of cyberattack incidents causing problems on systems in Vietnam recorded, warned and handled by NCSC's system was 4,639. Meanwhile, the number of incidents of cyber attacks on Vietnamese information systems in the first five months of last year was 5,463.
Mr. Vu Ngoc Son, Technical Director of Vietnam Cybersecurity Technology Company (NCS), said that in the first months of 2023, a remarkable phenomenon was the fact that groups of hackers attacked and inserted gambling ads, betting on the websites of government agencies and the education sector. These objects attack through basic vulnerabilities, thereby gaining control of the server and performing advertising and SEO code insertion for betting and gambling sites.
The Department of Information Security, Ministry of Information and Communications has just warned agencies, organizations and businesses that use Windows about 10 high-level and serious vulnerabilities that exist in Microsoft products. Experts also recommend that system administrators need to regularly review overall, from infrastructure design, security configuration, operating process to the website's source code, fully update the vulnerability patches, develop a 24/7 monitoring plan to proactively detect and promptly respond to cyber attacks. |
