On September 15, 2023, the G77 and China Summit (Summit) opened in Havana, Cuba with the participation of heads of state, government and government leaders of nearly 130 member countries of the G77 Group, Secretary General of the United Nations and leaders of many international organizations. The Conference is an initiative of Cuba as Chairman of the G77 Group and China in 2023. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha led the Vietnamese delegation to attend the Conference.
With the topic "Current development challenges: The role of science, technology and innovation", the Conference focused on exchanging and proposing solutions to strengthen cooperation between countries in the group, promote economic recovery and implement the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Speaking at the main discussion session of the Conference in the afternoon of September 15 (morning of September 16, Vietnam time), Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha congratulated and highly appreciated the Cuba country's role and contribution, as Chairman of the G77 Group and China in 2023, has strived to overcome many difficulties and challenges, bringing together representatives of 80% of the population and 2/3 of the world's countries to exchange and strengthen cooperation respond to urgent global issues.
The Deputy Prime Minister assessed that the world is at a historic moment to transform the economic model, in which science, technology and innovation are the universal keys to solving current global challenges. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that if the key to the fight against the Covid-19 epidemic is a vaccine, then the "vaccine" in the effort to fight climate change is science, technology and green hydrogen; The "vaccine" for global problems is cooperation, solidarity, science, technology and innovation. |
