Climate Change
The world experts said that Vietnam is a heavily impacted country by global climate change, ranked second among countries with average incomes.
Thanks to breakwater barrier projects that tens of km coast of Kien Giang avoid erosion, prevent salinization encroachment deeply into mainland, helping people stabilize their lives. The project was implemented by the Government of Germany, Australia and Vietnam.
Ministers and Heads of Delegation of countries affirmed, the goals posed in Da Nang agreement are ambitious and will have to overcome many challenges to achieve.
On November 19, in Can Tho City, Southwest Steering Committee collaborated with Can Tho People's Committee and CARE Organization in Vietnam to hold a workshop "Adapting to climate change to vulnerable objects in Mekong Delta."
This content had been discussed by paricipants at the workshop of the impact of drought on the economy - society; propose measures to respond and mitigate the consequences of climate change in the South Central coastal provinces, took place in Ninh Thuan province.
By 2030, using domestic human resources, Vietnam committed to reduce 8% of greenhouse gas emissions compared with conventional development scenarios and possibly reduce to 25% if it received international support.
