Impact
Climate change: The farmer are more likely to take risk
The risks impacted by climate change, accounting for 50% of income reduction level for farmers. The scientists gave information at the workshop consultation on research result of project for "The response solution of the farmers to climate change in Vietnam and Vision 2030." The workshop organized by Institute for Rural Agricultural Policy and Strategy.


The World Bank ranked Vietnam in the list of 12 most vulnerable countries by climate change, in which, Mekong Delta is considered one of 3 most vulnerable plains by climate change.

In Mekong Delta, the impact of climate change, the drought and floods caused by heavy rain and high tides had great impact on rice production, storms and floods, temperature, fish and shrimp cultivation. The reason is that concentrate production area planning change slowly compared to  predicted impacts of climate change; the climate warning and forecast system is also weak; and etc.

At the workshop, the participants said that, in order to prevent and limit the damage caused by climate change, we need to develop specific action plans to respond appropriately, attach planning to climate change forecast to complete irrigation systems, sea dike systems, river dike systems, install monitoring and warning systems of the impact of climate change and sea level rise for rural agriculture in sensitive areas.
