Can Tho Department of Science and Technology participated in displaying and introducing products at the first Mekong Startup Forum in 2022
In order to make practical contributions to regional economic development goals, the People's Committee of Dong Thap province and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development organized the first Mekong Startup Forum in 2022 with the theme "Modern circular agriculture, development low emissions” from December 19-20, 2022, in Dong Thap.

The forum aims to contribute to raising awareness of all levels, sectors and businesses in the Mekong Delta about the problem of combating climate change, reducing emissions, greening and modernizing the agricultural sector in order to achieve the target, building ecological agriculture, modern rural areas, civilized farmers for the Mekong Delta region according to the direction of the Party and Government. At the same time, create an Agenda associated with key regional commodity chains such as rice, fruits, and seafood to help the parties share and share common views on the context, challenges and opportunities establish a number of initial solutions and prioritized actions to quickly put the commitments into practice.

The forum attracted more than 350 delegates from ministries, central branches, leaders of localities in the region, international organizations, experts, domestic and foreign enterprises, representatives of industry associations, cooperatives, small and medium enterprises, start-ups.

At the Forum, the Mekong Delta was the first region where provinces signed commitments with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the agricultural sector, building a strong and drastic action roadmap to accompany together with the Government in an effort to realize the emission reduction commitments made by the Prime Minister at COP 26. Dong Thap province also signed commitments with industry associations to develop Dong Thap into a “Regional emission reduction Solution Center” to support piloting all emission reduction solutions in the agricultural sector as well as other fields in the locality.

At the same time, the province also signed with FPT Corporation on comprehensive training of human resources, building technology platforms; signed with international partners and the leading Business Club of the province to improve the capacity of enterprises in the area to achieve the set development goals. The Forum Organizing Committee will also create conditions for the business community attending the forum to sign a commitment to implementing solutions and production processes towards sustainable goals.

For Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), and Startups - Innovation, the Forum is the first place to update and provide the business community in the region with systematically official information related to commitments and mandatory requirements to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the direct impact of this issue on the production and business activities of enterprises, and suggest some orientations of initial solutions.

SMEs and Startups will receive orders from large enterprises leading the chain to find solutions to the challenges and opportunities of each industry in particular as well as the agricultural industry in general in the new context. Thereby opening up opportunities to join large value chains. At the same time, businesses also receive orders from regional government leaders to participate in research and find solutions for the implementation of commitments towards the goal of reducing emissions to zero (Net zero); and can get support to pilot solutions.

Within the framework of the forum, there is also an exhibition space, displaying and introducing startup products of provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta.

The Can Tho Department of Science and Technology participated in the exhibition at the forum with nearly 100 startup products that won prizes at the startup and innovation contest, and the city's OCOP certified products.
