Intellectual Property Conference 2022: Need for development orientation at both central and local levels
Recently, in Bac Giang City, the National Office of Intellectual Property (Ministry of Science and Technology) coordinated with the Department of Science and Technology of Bac Giang province to organize the Intellectual Property Conference in 2022.

The 2022 Intellectual Property Conference was organized to focus on clarifying the achieved results and identifying difficulties and obstacles that need to be solved in the field of state management of intellectual property and orientation of intellectual property activities in 2022.

It can be seen that in 2021, despite being severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, state management of intellectual property at both central and local levels has achieved some positive results; increasingly associated with the joint activities of the Government, the Ministry of Science and Technology, ministries, branches and localities. Intellectual property becomes an important tool for socio-economic development.

The work of formulating the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Intellectual Property has been carried out according to the set schedule; the implementation of the National Intellectual Property Strategy and the Intellectual Property Development Program have helped to enhance the role and position of S&T in ministries, branches and localities.

Despite being strongly affected by the COVID-19 epidemic and social distancing, the number of patent and industrial design applications still increased quite high (9.1% and 11.9% respectively) compared to 2020; processing results of industrial property applications increased by 3.8%, of which the results of handling national trademark applications increased by 6.3%. The result of settlement of industrial property complaints increased by 29% and all kinds of applications/claims related to protection titles increased by over 15%.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat said: Decision No. 1068/QD-TTg dated August 22, 2019 of the Prime Minister approving the National Intellectual Property Strategy to 2030, promulgated in the direction of integrating intellectual property in each socio-economic field. Therefore, state management of intellectual property is one of the important activities, playing a leading role in the implementation process.

In 2021, state management of intellectual property at both central and local levels has achieved encouraging results. Besides, there are also some shortcomings and limitations that need to be considered and resolved in order to have a stronger and positive change in the coming time. With these achievements, along with the attention of leaders at all levels in establishing relevant mechanisms and policies, the field of intellectual property will have new and breakthrough developments, in order to effectively implement the "National Intellectual Property Strategy to 2030."

State management of IP is one of the important activities, playing a leading role in the process of realizing that goal. In order for this activity to be more and more effective and to promote its role, it is very necessary to summarize, evaluate, learn from experiences and develop orientation for the next years.
