“Using intellectual property to promote production and business”
On September 8, in Ho Chi Minh City, the National Office of Intellectual Property cooperated with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to organize a workshop"Using intellectual property to promote production and business."

Speakers and delegates were at the Workshop "Using intellectual property to promote production and business."

Attending the workshop, there were Mr. Hasan Kleib - WIPO Deputy General Director in charge of national and regional development cooperation issues; Ms. Alexandra Bhattacharya, Program Officer, Office of the Deputy General Director; Mrs. Yaning Zhang, Project Specialist, Office of the Deputy General Director; two WIPO speakers joined online from the bridgehead in Geneva, Switzerland; Mr. Tran Le Hong, Deputy Director of the National Office of Intellectual Property (IP) and more than 70 delegates from businesses, industry associations, universities and some state management agencies.

The workshop "Using intellectual property to promote production and business" is an activity in the series of events on the occasion of Mr. Hasan Kleib - WIPO Deputy General Director and WIPO officials to visit and work in Vietnam. The workshop aimed to share information related to policies and programs of WIPO and Vietnam in supporting enterprises to promote production and business activities based on exploitation of intellectual property (IP). At the same time, a number of businesses also shared successful experiences from domestic and foreign IP protection.

Speaking at the opening of the Workshop, Mr. Hasan Kleib - Deputy General Director of WIPO affirmed the importance of using fixed intellectual property assets for businesses. Vietnam needs to develop a fixed intellectual property assets for businesses asset as a tool to promote economic growth and development. Moreover, Mr. Hasan Kleib also expressed his impression that the number of patent applications in Vietnam has tripled as well as by 50% in other fields.

Currently, in developing countries, the proportion of small and medium enterprises accounts for about 90%. In Indonesia accounted for 99.3% and in Vietnam this figure was 98%. In Europe, 9% of companies use fixed intellectual property assets and generate 70% of their growth. It can be seen that the use of fixed intellectual property assets to promote business activities is what businesses need to pay attention to, especially for small and medium enterprises.
