Vinamit Joint Stock Company has just received 4 patents granted by the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for a series of freeze-dried drinks made from domestic vegetables and fruits when Vinamit registered for protection with up to 500 inventions.
Vinamit's invention is to create a technology to freeze-dry vegetables, tubers and fruits but still retain "life" in the product, such as natural flavors with a content of vitamins, minerals and beneficial bacteria, creating so intestinal survival is equivalent to fresh produce. “The large number of patents registered by enterprises (DN) is “encircled” to prevent “outsiders” from registering to cause confusion.
According to Mr. Nguyen Lam Vien, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vinamit Joint Stock Company: “The end of 2018, when Vinamit brought a test dried sugarcane juice product to the market, it immediately created a fever with a series of orders from all over the world. Due to the new product has not been protected, the risk of being copied is very great, so we have to cool down the market, only after receiving the protection application from the USPTO, we can launch the product in the market. That is why it is not until 2020, that Vinamit's freeze-dried drinks will appear on supermarket shelves."
In order to register for patent protection in the US market, Vinamit has established a wholly owned subsidiary in the US, Vinamit USA, and hired a law firm specializing in this field.
With the appraisal period of 24 months in Vietnam, 12 months in the US, 11 months in China, the waiting time is so long that the novelty of the product and technology is no longer available. That is also the reason why some enterprises have chosen to register their patents abroad before registering for protection in Vietnam. |
