This is the second year that the National University of Ho Chi Minh City in collaboration with the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam (Ministry of Science and Technology) organized the contest "Students with intellectual property rights" (S&IP). This year, the contest with to topic "From ideas to business opportunities", with total prizes of more than 1.5 billion VND.
Participants include students, groups of students studying at universities in the South (from Da Nang to Ca Mau). Projects participating in S&IP 2021 must meet the following conditions: applying a digital technology platform, solving specific problems, having never won awards at provincial / higher level, having participated in S&IP 2020 but have not won the Top 10 award and do not violate intellectual property rights according to current regulations.
The S&IP 2021 competition consists of the following rounds:
- Preliminary selection (March 19-30): Receive online applications, launch seminar "Student Contest with Intellectual Property Rights", organize online voting for the "Top10 beloved favorite projects" and select about 30 excellent projects in the next round.
- Training (1 / 7-31 / 8): Organizing training courses on startup and intellectual property for project groups; organize the introduction of projects participating in "Mentor Matching Program and Project Groups" with one-to-one training sessions in order to perfect project explanations; The 10 best projects are selected by the Organization Baord and mentors for the next round.
- Seminar (in August): Organizing in-depth seminars and training on intellectual property and related issues for start-up projects.
Final and ranking (in September): Top 10 best projects presented to the Jury to select the best project to award prizes; honoring the best authors and projects in the competition, supporting the incubation connection to establish potential businesses.
The prize structure includes 1 First prize (35 million VND), 1 Second prize (10 million VND), 1 Third prize (8 million VND), 2 Encouragement prizes (5 million VND / prize) and 4 Potential prizes (4 million VND/ prize). In addition, 10 most popular project awards (voted online) each worth 500,000 VND; 1 International development potential project (Japan) prize worth 20 million VND.
Winning projects after the contest also received support packages, such as IPTC's IPTC registration support package worth 20 million VND / project; Incubation package for startups by the Center for Startup and Innovation of the National University of Ho Chi Minh City worth 100 million VND / project / year; Amazon Web Services (AWS) support package worth $ 2,000 / project / year; and Startup Advisory Package in Japan.
