Model of rearing frogs with red tilapia
Vinh Long Agricultural Extension Center has built a model of raising frogs in a racetrack combined with red tilapia. The results show that the model has both high economic efficiency and suitable with the breeding level of local farmers.

Mr. Tran Tuan Anh, a farmer in Nhon Binh commune, Tra On district is a household supported by the Agricultural Extension Center to implement the model. This is a relatively new model for people in Nhon Binh commune, Mr. Tuan Anh was carefully instructed on farming techniques.

Anh Tuan Anh designed two racquets with a nylon net size of 30 m2, 1 - 1.2 m high, with a lid on top to avoid frogs from jumping out and to prevent harm. The racetrack hangs in the pond, the bottom is submerged about 20-30 cm.

On the underside of the bottom of the raft, there are foam sheets to climb up to be a place for frogs to rest, sunbathe and eat prey. Tuan Anh's model raised 2,500 frogs and 2,000 red tilapia. After 2.5 months of rearing, the survival rate of frogs is 80%, weight of 3-4 animals / kg, yield 420 kg frogs. With the price of 45,000 VND / kg, he earned more than 18 million vnd. Because the fishes were small and not the right size, he continued farming.

Seeing the efficiency of Mr. Tuan Anh's model, the surrounding households came to visit and learn and bravely invest in raising from 2,000 to 3,000 breed frogs / model. In Tuan Anh alone, there were 6 households raising frogs and red tilapia. The model was also replicated with more than 30 households in the communes of Tra Con, Tan My, Hoa Binh, Vinh Xuan and Thuan Thoi with the scale of 3,000 - 5,000 frogs / model.

The model of commercial frog farming in racetrack combined with red tilapia has contributed to improving the technical level of people in the area; make a premise to build and develop specialized farming areas for special aquatic products to enhance the value of production, create more jobs, improve the living standards for rural laborers and contribute to the development of successfully implementing the Project of agricultural restructuring in Vinh Long province in the direction of raising the value, efficiency and sustainable development of Vinh Long province.
