National target programs on climate change response: Expecting green, sustainable development
The first period of 2016-2020 implementation of the national target program on climate change response with the expectation of restructure and perfect economic institutions towards green and sustainable.


Afforestation is a priority activity of the 2016-2020 Program.


The first phase of 2008-2010 was successfully kicked off when the awareness of the whole society improved markedly. The period of 2011-2015, the implementation phase of many projects created a legal document system and strategic orientation for the response to climate change.

According to Dr. Truong Duc Tri, Deputy Director of the Climate Change Department, after five years of implementation 2011-2015, with the participation of the ministries, branches and 63 provinces with the close guidance of the Prime Minister, National Climate Change Committee with the active efforts of both the political system and the support of the international community, the national target program on responding to climate change has achieved comprehensive results. From the institutional system, the policy is finalized and many research results are applied in practice; Awareness of the community has significantly improved Vietnam's position on the international forums.

Specifically, the program has assessed the level of climate change, sea level rise; update detailed scenarios to each locality; Creation of a database on climate change and sea level rise associated with high-altitude models for socio-economic development planning.
