Summary project for climate change and ethnic minorities in the North

The Danish International Development Agency, the Farmers' Association of the provinces of Lai Chau, Son La and Dien Bien organized a summation conference of the project for climate change and ethnic minorities in the North.

The climate change project and ethnic minorities in Northern Vietnam were being implemented from July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2017. The project aims to disseminate sustainable farming practices, mitigation and adaptation to climate change in three mountainous Northern provinces of Vietnam including Lai Chau, Son La and Dien Bien.
The project has trained 25 source communicators for 3 provinces on SRI improved rice cultivation techniques, sustainable maize cultivation on sloping land, mushroom cultivation, composting, presentation skills. After training, local informants and the selection of 50 farmer groups (each group of 10 people) from 50 villages in 25 communes to implement FFS classes (Farmers Training Classes). Here, they conduct the knowledge and skills that they have been trained to farmers participating in the model.
In general, the project has been implemented that has contributed to raising awareness, changing backward farming habits. Promote the application of new farming methods that are environmentally friendly, contributing to reducing climate change. |
