Together with GM Vietnam to protect mangrove forests, adapt to climate change
On June 24, General Motors Vietnam collaborated with Marinelife Organism Conservation and Community Development Center (MCD) to organize the event: "Responding World Environment Day: Mangrove forest protection, climate change adaptation "in Giao Thien commune, Giao Thuy district, Nam Dinh province.

This event aims to raise awareness of the community about the role of mangrove forests in mitigating the impacts of climate change and protecting the marine environment.

Nearly 100 staffs, leaders and agents of GM Vietnam, and 200 volunteers planted 500 mangroves in Xuan Thuy National Park, Nam Dinh under the guidance of Park staffs.

Mangrove forests play an important role in maintaining biodiversity, reducing pollution and the impact of climate change that directly affects the lives of local people. Mangrove forest planting in Xuan Thuy National Park is practical significance with the preservation and development of the living environment of the local community in particular and the natural ecosystem in general.

To increase the knowledge of Vietnamese GM staffs and local people about the importance of mangrove forests for the environment and raise awareness of the community about the protection of the natural environment, a short workshop of “The role of mangrove forest for biodiversity conservation and climate change adaptation in the coastal zone "was also held on the same day.

With the spirit of "We Care - We are for you", GM Vietnam combined with MCD to build a recycling playground for children in Giao Thien commune. The playground is installed on a 100m2 at Giao Thiet's cultural house including equipments, such as slides, swings, climbing systems, etc.

Today's meaningful activity is proposed by GM Vietnam and is a part of the project "Promote youth pioneering role in climate change adaptation in the Red River Delta" (READY) implemented by MCD with funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
