Quang Ngai: Serious riverbank, coast landslide
Due to the impact of climate change, the state of riverbank, coast landslide of Quang Ngai province is becoming more serious.


According to report of People's Committee of Quang Ngai province, the province now has about 129 locations of riverbank, coast landslide with a total length over 160 km, including 134 meters of riverbank and 26 km of coastline.

In many areas, the degree of landslide is over 30m. Due to terrain is short, steep, shallow and narrow river-bed, so during the rainy season, intense flow caused severe flood combining tides to make the waterfront, shoreline is eroded increasingly serious.

Especially, Ly Son island district invested to build some erosion control embankment buildings, but now large northern islands have been eroding from 3-4 m.

In An Binh commune, Mom Tau area is 200 meters long, currently it has been deeply eroded the shore from 7-8m, Southeast island area is 150 meters long, it is deeply eroded the shore from 5-6 meters. Within 40 years, Ly Son island district was eroded sea and land area in the island approximately 1 km2.

In the recent years, Quang Ngai province has used many central and local capital sources to  build embankments against riverbank, shoreline erosion. However, many projects are lack funds.
