Many species of rare birds in the Red Book live in Hau Giang
According to Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hau Giang province, thanks to good planning, habitat conservation in Hau Giang are improved, gradually returned to the wild landscapes where attract many species of rare birds that are in the conserved species of Red Book. They live and breed there to be increasingly.

According to the survey results of Forest Management Department and experts of Ho Chi Minh Institute of Tropical Biology, the area of ​​ Bird Garden at Spring Agricultural Center (Phung Hiep District, Hau Giang), from August, 2011 so far there are more than 30 species of birds living with a total of 3.500 birds to 4.000 birds, in which there are three rare species in the Vietnam red book such as snack-birds (Anhingar melanogaster ), storks, swallows (Ardea oscitans) and (Tantalus leucocephalus).

In 2012, the provincial government approved land use planning of  Hau Giang Spring Agricultural Center with a total area of ​​1.400 ha, in which forest land for sanctuaries is 61.87 hectares of the total nature area of bird garden about 92.62 hectares. Hau Giang has around 5.100ha forest land, in which forest area is about 2.500 ha, forest coverage rate mainly reached 1.2 % .

Carpets, flora of Hau Giang wetlands are diverse, but the land is exploited for a long term to grow rice, fruit-trees or residential land so species depend on agricultural ecosystem and domesticated development. Through statistics, fauna has 71 species of terrestrial animals, 135 species of birds. Animals include many species from fishes to reptiles, amphibians concentrated in the fields and canals, especially at the foot of the forest, etc.

According to the Hau Giang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, with the discovery of the bird’s nest and rare species, Spring Bird Garden tends to develop in the future; hence the provincial government should focus on conservation of natural resources.
